3 Key Takeaways from AHIMA and The Stevie Awards

 

The week of September 16th was a busy one for the TrustHCS recruiting team! Starting at the 2019 AHIMA Conference in Chicago and ending at the 2019 Stevie Awards for Great Employers, there was a lot happening. Both Danielle Richmond-Gabelli and Gina Richmond shared the following key takeaways from the week’s interactions and events.

 

#1 AHIMA is Doing Something Right

 

At the 2019 AHIMA Conference, it was evident the association had pulled together the session content, conference location, and overall agenda necessary to draw an amazing group of professionals. Having been part of the annual AHIMA conferences for the past several years, this year’s conference stands out significantly. The TrustHCS team had a separate booth established in the Career Fair section of the AHIMA exhibit hall, like in prior years. However; this year the conversations had at the booth were of a different flavor.

First and foremost, it was evident that AHIMA was a top target for those seeking a career move or launch in HIM. With hundreds of individual conversations had between the TrustHCS team (Danielle and Gina) and attendees, AHIMA 2019 roused more connections to those professionals who would be ideal additions to the TrustHCS family than ever before. Not only was there a solid set of students and recent program graduates, but there were also many seasoned coding professionals looking for career advancements and advice from the TrustHCS team.

“We spoke with a number of RNs who were completing coding programs seeking advice on career paths.” Gina Richmond shared. “These are the individuals we guided to research not only the HIM path but also the Clinical Documentation Improvement options they have before them.”

Overall, it was certain that the attendees of the 2019 AHIMA Conference were a much larger mix across all career experience levels and backgrounds. The AHIMA team deserves kudos for executing such a successful conference on that front.

 

#2 It’s Certain Trust Has Been Earned

 

It has been a focus of TrustHCS to maintain a work environment trusted to provide flexibility, fulfillment and a proper work-life balance. Recent Glassdoor rankings combined with industry recognition via company leadership and workplace awards gave us some solace that we were delivering on that focus. However; the interactions with so many at AHIMA 2019 have backed up the reputation the TrustHCS family has in the industry.

Many who met with Danielle and Gina noted they were seeking a conversation with the TrustHCS team on career opportunities based on what they’d heard of the company from others in the industry. Our company slogan is “Trust is Earned”. While this is an ongoing endeavor, it was evident efforts thus far have not gone unnoticed!

 

#3 The TrustHCS Team is Made of Rockstars

 

After leaving AHIMA in Chicago, Danielle and Gina met another member of the TrustHCS team in New York to attend the 2019 Stevie Awards for Great Employers. The team was up for “Onboarding Team of the Year” and the “Recruiting and Talent Acquisition Team of the Year”. After being nominated for the awards given the powerhouse efforts of Gina Richmond and Charmagne Payne, the team won Gold for onboarding and Bronze for recruiting and talent acquisition.

 

BONUS: It’s Still Not Settled

The flood of conversations at AHIMA combined with a trip to New York for The Stevie Awards, a major question was still not answered by the AHIMA attendees. In the home of deep-dish pizza, Chicago, we were asking the key question “Is pineapple appropriate on pizza?” While each person who stopped by the TrustHCS career fair booth had a chance to vote on the answer, it seem the question was largely left unanswered.
